Magister Negi Magi (ou Negima) est le dernier succès de Ken Akamatsu. Prépublié pour la première fois au Japon dans le magazine "Shounen Weekly" en 2003. En France, ce manga est arrivé en 2004 aux éditions Pika, d'abord en prépublication dans "Shonen Collection" puis en volume relié un an plus tard. Suite au succès, un OAV est sorti au Japon en avril 2004. La série télé est disponible au Japan depuis janvier 2005.
