Resume : Nous sommes au printemps, pendant les vacances qui précèdent l'entrée au lycée. Un jeune garçon, Ki-Ichi Airua, décide de retourner à Yatake, le village de ses aïeux, pour y retrouver une étrange épée - "karasumaru" -, ayant appartenu à son arrière-grand-père. En route, le jeune homme se perd dans les montagnes. Fort heureusement pour lui, Sumiko, une jeune fille qui passait par-là, le conduit à Kebigasawa, village proche de Yatake. Ki-Ichi remarque vite que le comportement des femmes y est bien étrange.
